My name is Hesham Shabaan, but people know me by Sham. I was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1963 and I have 3 brothers and 1 sister. I am married to my wife, Agatha and we don’t have any children, but we have two dogs and two cats. We have lived in Lakeville for over 20 years. I attended engineering college for 3 years and worked in the Egyptian government for 5 years. I came to the United States in 1990. I lived in New York for 8 years, where I met my wife. We moved to Lakeville in 2000 to help my friend Salah, owner of the Buckboard Restaurant and I am still working with him as a chef to this day. I am a cancer survivor. I lost one kidney in September 2016 from cancer. I went through chemo for six months and I am currently cancer free.

Why Am I Running ________
People ask me why I want to run for Lakeville City Council? I say it is all about courage and to make Lakeville a stronger and better community. When coronavirus hit our country, Governor Walz shut down all businesses for at least 2 months and we got the order to change the restaurant to take-out only. With one kidney and a new virus, I took the risk to manage the Buckboard to take-out only all by myself. I took orders through the phone and also cooked everything myself. All of my customers say, “You are my hero.”
